MESA, AZ — A Mesa company is helping police departments across the Valley combat crime and save resources using new remote surveillance video technology.

Iveda Solutions has teamed up with departments in Phoenix, El Mirage and Cave Creek.

The company sets up cameras — and monitors them — in problematic areas for things like graffiti, vandalism or illegal dumping and then notifies officers if something happens.

In a video provided to ABC15 of one such arrest, the company was able to immediately notify Phoenix police of three suspects spraying graffiti at a frequently hit spot.

Those suspects were arrested just minutes later.

“Instead of cleaning up a crime, let’s prevent it from happening in the first place,” said CEO David Ly.

The company monitors the cameras from their Mesa office.

They also work with more than a dozen other cities across the country.

It’s been especially helpful for some Valley cities, which are facing tight budgets from the down economy.

Ly said his company can monitor multiple surveillance cameras for a city for less than $3 an hour.

That saves cities resources and can keep officers on patrol or save troubled companies from having to hire an on-site security staff.

Ly said his company also provides services for individuals.
